Jamie, originally from Pangnirtung, recently finished the two year 'ETP' - Environmental Technology Program in Iqaluit.
He wanted to join the field school because they discussed archaeology a bit in his courses, but wanted to learn more about
the science of it. He enjoys going out on the land camping and boating.
Jamie is a dedicated and serious student who tries to learn all he can about what he's studying. He's currently working
on construction at the new Justice building in Iqaluit - becoming an expert in rock wall construction (with concrete). But,
he has his eyes on a Wildlife Trainee position back in Pangnirtung - Good Luck Jamie! His ability to look at things wholistically
will certainly help him with any job he will have in the future.
He would like to see communities more active in the archaeology of their area, especially in the promotion of youth and
elders coming together to share and exchange knowledge and ideas. Good communication is very important to Jamie - especially
when his group couldn't agree on where all the 'qammaqs' (sod houses) were on one of the first days out in the field. Good
thing we all improved and got to know eachother better so we were able to communicate better by the end - right Jamie?
